What does Medi-Cal cover at Monteluz?
Medi-Cal includes dental benefits called Denti-Cal — and the good news is you do not need to apply separately. Once your Medi-Cal is active, your dental coverage activates automatically. For children and young adults under 21, coverage also includes orthodontics (braces) when qualifying criteria are met, plus fluoride and sealants. Just bring your Medi-Cal BIC card — we handle all the verification.

Does Medi-Cal cover dental implants?
In most cases, Medi-Cal (Denti-Cal) does not cover dental implants for adults. Implants are generally considered elective under Denti-Cal guidelines. Prior authorization may be granted in rare medically necessary situations, but this is uncommon. That does not mean implants are out of reach — at Monteluz we offer free implant consultations, flexible financing, and in-house membership plans so cost is never a barrier.
Free implant consultations available. Flexible financing and monthly payment plans for procedures not covered by Medi-Cal. PPO and HMO also accepted.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to activate my Denti-Cal separately?
No. If you have Medi-Cal, your dental coverage through Denti-Cal is automatic. You do not need to sign up separately or make any calls. Just bring your BIC card to your appointment.
Does Medi-Cal cover dental care for my kids?
Yes — Medi-Cal provides comprehensive dental coverage for children and young adults up to age 21. This includes cleanings, fillings, x-rays, emergency care, and in qualifying cases, orthodontic treatment (braces).
I lost my BIC card. Can I still make an appointment?
Yes. Call us at (909) 567-2024 and we can often verify your benefits by name and date of birth. You can also request a replacement BIC card through the Medi-Cal website or by calling 1-800-541-5555.
Does Medi-Cal cover dental implants in California?
In most cases, no. Denti-Cal does not cover implants for adults unless prior authorization is granted for a medically necessary situation, which is rare. However, Monteluz offers free implant consultations and flexible financing so cost is not a barrier. Ask us about our membership plans starting at $20 per month.
Does Monteluz accept other insurance besides Medi-Cal?
Yes. In addition to Medi-Cal (Denti-Cal), we accept most PPO and HMO dental plans. We also offer an in-house membership plan starting at $20 per month for patients without insurance.
Does Denti-Cal cover root canals for adults?
Yes. Root canal treatment on permanent teeth is a covered Denti-Cal benefit for adults with full-scope Medi-Cal. We handle all prior authorization paperwork (TAR) on your behalf — you do not need to do anything.
What happens if I need emergency dental care?
Emergency dental procedures — including extractions, abscess treatment, and care for severe pain or swelling — are covered by Denti-Cal with relaxed prior-authorization requirements. Same-day emergency appointments are available. Call us at (909) 567-2024.
